Decorating Your Christmas Tree

With the Christmas holiday season fast approaching it’s time to start thinking about decorating your home for Christmas. While there are many areas of the home that can be decorated most of us focus our attention on the Christmas Tree. Here are some things to think about when decorating your Christmas Tree to ensure it makes a beautiful festive focal point in your home during the holiday season.

The most common Christmas decoration found on a Christmas tree is usually the lights. Christmas lights (or fairy lights) are small lights that tend to be multicolored or white. These days Christmas lights are fairly inexpensive and come in many shapes and sizes, from different colored bulbs to different shapes and lighting effects. A large number of Christmas tree owners use Christmas lights to decorate their Christmas trees. Depending on the type of Christmas lights you use, if you choose to use them at all, you may be able to set your lights to play a Christmas tune or flash in a certain pattern.

Aside from Christmas lights, Christmas ornaments are another one of the most commonly used Christmas decorations, for Christmas trees. Traditional Christmas ornaments are ball-shaped and are typically colored red, green, silver, or gold. However, you can buy ornaments today in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and styles. From Santa Claus and his reindeer to candy canes and even Disney Princesses, you’re sure to find something to suit every taste and decor. Christmas ornaments are most commonly hung from Christmas tree branches using ornament hooks, yarn, or thread.

You can add texture and color to your tree with garland or tinsel. Garland, when used to decorate a Christmas tree, is often intertwined with Christmas lights. Christmas garland also comes in a number of different styles; popular garland styles include floral garland and beaded garland. It is also possible to find pre-lighted garland which has Christmas lights attached to it already. The main purpose of pre-lighted garland is to reduce the amount of time it takes to decorate a Christmas tree.

The finishing touch is often a Christmas Tree Topper. While Christmas tree toppers, like all other Christmas decorations, come in a wide variety of different sizes, shapes, and styles, they are most commonly sold as angels. Other popular toppers include stars, crosses, and Santas. In addition to coming in different sizes, you will find that many Christmas tree toppers are designed to light up with Christmas lights, and some may even play a musical Christmas tune.

You probably have a number of Christmas decorations and ornaments left over from last year but if you need to buy new items this Christmas you should be able to find the items mentioned in this article at a large number of retailers, both on and offline. For affordable Christmas decorations check your local dollar stores, discount stores, or department stores. For the largest selection of Christmas tree decorations, you might need to shop online or at a local specialty Christmas shop.

Our tree is green- it’s plastic because everyone in my family has allergies, and we have four cats. We usually just put multicolored lights and a few unbreakable ornaments on it, as our cats like to try to climb it- causing the ornaments to fall off all the time :] We never really put anything on top (same reason for unbreakable ornaments) and then just a few candy canes that have usually been picked off by Christmas day:]

We also sometimes string popcorn, but then the cats try to eat it X]

My tree will be white, with red and green bows, with all red bulbs. My candy canes will be green, and a angel on top that sings.

Unfortunately I don’t have room to put up a Christmas Tree where I live now. I usually just put a colorful Christmas tablecloth on the table and order a Christmas center piece to go in the middle of it and get a colorful Christmas throw and pillows for the couch. And of course my dogs get Christmas collars and outfits and I wear Christmas shirts. Enjoy yours!

I love, and ALWAYS grew up with natural only trees (we lived in Maine, and could cut trees from our own property every year). Now I have a baby, a toddler and a cat who likes to climb, so to save my sanity we are using a fake tree that looks as realistic as possible. It’s a lot less work.

Colored lights for the kids, and candy canes for me! Garland, but no tinsel. We haven’t purchased a tree topper yet, but odds are it will be an angel.

I can’t wait to set up our tree this year! I never used to care much, but decorating becomes so much more fun when you have kids in the house and you see how excited they get.

We will most likely have a real, green tree. We decorate it differently each year, but haven’t decided for this year yet. My mom was mentioning having an angel theme, but I am actually rooting for ice-Christmas, which would basically mean an all-blue theme with those fake ice crystals. My brother wants all green, but I think it would blend into the tree too much.

Last year we had a "snow" tree, so we had solid white garland, ornaments, even white candy canes! It was really pretty against the dark green of the tree.

Oh, yeah, we always have a star at the top. It’s silvery and it’s been the tree-topper since I was born. I’m 15 now, so it’s quite old!

We have a green tree, that is fake. With a new puppy in the house this year, I can’t imagine even bothering with a real one, lol. I decorate our tree the same way my mom used to do ours. Lots of ball ornaments, around the entire tree (you can see nearly all of it, due to it being next to the staircase), a handful of store – bought ornaments, garland and colored lights. This, topped with an angel in remembrance of our mother. Last year, my fiance, brother and I made tons of homemade ornaments that we will be re-using this year as well. I always loved a colorful tree as a kid, and know that my brother does as well, so we try to use a wide variety of things! =]

I’m getting so excited for Christmas! Even though it’s still October. Haha well, it’s going to be a real tree, a star goes on top. We don’t really have certain colors or themes we all just put our ornaments on the tree, and we have candy canes. And of course red and green lights. My grandma gives all the kids a new ornament every year, so we have tons of them. :)

My family doesn’t celebrate Halloween either!

I am going with different ornaments that are in my color theme. I am doing red, green and lime green. I have always wanted to do that and this year I am. This is for our living room tree. We put all of our sentimental ornaments on the tree in our bedroom. The kids love to come in our room and sit on our bed and reminisce about them.
Both of those trees are real. While I use to complain about being the one to have to clean them up, we can now afford better trees and so it’s not bad. The better the tree the less the needles fall off.
I put a paper tree on the wall in the family/toy room because I babysit and I don’t want anyone getting hurt.

We put up a fake green tree. We can’t get a real one because I break out when I touch a real tree. We decorate it with lights, silver beads, candy canes, and ornaments that have a meaning behind them. This year we will put a star on top of the tree. My husband likes the star and I like the angel so we do each one every other year so we each get what we grew up with.

Well it will be a new artificial green tree this year last year I donated everything,we are just now looking but have decided about 4 ft for the new one.ITT will be sitting on a table I have 3 dogs and expect one visiting at Christmas. Many years ago I did a tree with Victorian ornaments,I loved it but the family didn’t I am thinking of doing another one maybe with pink, silver and red.My hubby likes traditional red and green Christmas. That’s the plan today it may change next week.I will make most of that if I do it,And it will have white lights, pink balls, and fan ornaments, stockings and candy canes of course.
